UK winter racing, mostly

As the British winter grips, racing turns to cyclocross mainly ... but there's a few mountain bike events for the hardy, and addicted.

Top riding over the winter from Iwona Szmyd, winning the Western CX league, getting 3rd in the Southern Area Champs (1st Vet) + a couple of Merida Brass Monkey 4 hour MTB victories. Smashing it & testing the components whatever the weather.

Ant White managed to sneak in a trip to the excellent Etna Marathon in Sicily getting a 5th in his age category.  This definitely one to go back for in 2019 and be for for, nice and climby, mega fun descents amid a spectacular backdrop.

His CX campaign got off to a slow start with a broken rib not helping, perhaps a cross bike would help?  Top of the podium for the loudest cycling kit though. He came 2nd overall in the 4 hour Merida Brass Monkey winter mtb marathon series.

For the true sadist there's a couple of dark and cold 24 hour mtb races to play at.

Well done to MT ZOOM supported rider Jason Miles. One half of the winning mixed pair team in the far north of Scotland at the Strathpuffer 24 hour race. Brrr.

Richard Rothwell was also on the top step at the Kielder Chiller 24 race in the English/Scottish borders, this time in the male pairs category.
