Mountain bike racing across the summer ….

There have been loads of great results from MT ZOOM supported riders in tough endurance and cross country races across the summer. Testing the equipment and fellow competitors, in no particular order some highlights ….

UK Marathon Champs, Selkirk,  Scotland

Ant White and Rich Rothwell got 1st and 3rd at the UK Marathon Championships in sunny Selkirk, in the Vets category.  Ant finished an impressive 7th overall on the 85km course.

10 under the Ben, Fort William, Scotland

In the far north of Scotland in the shadow of Ben Nevis around Jason Miles got second in the 10 hour solo category David Powell  was 4th.

An honourable mention to Greig Brown (tooled up with MT ZOOM components) who won the event, hot on the heels of his solo victory at the Glentress 7 hour.

Bontrager 24 / 12, Newnham Park, Plymouth

Jason Miles continued his good vein of form by winning the Bontrager solo 24 hour in the Devon sun.

UK / European 24 Hour Champs, Wasing, Hampshire

Iwona Szmyd won the female solo UK & European 24 hour title in damp conditions in Hampshire.

Brighton Big Dog, Brighton

Iwona also went onto to win the female 6 hour solo Big Dog title at the excellent Brighton based event – one of the most fun in the UK.

Ant White won the Vets races and got 3rd overall.

Gorrick 100, Deepcut, Surrey

Ant also had a good result in the Gorrick 100 in May, with a 2nd overall.

Manx 100, Isle of Mann

Rich Rothwell was the fastest home in the inaugural Manx 100 on the Isle of Man with over 9 hours of riding.  Long climbs over the spectacular scenery made this a particular toughie.

Transalp stage race, German, Italy etc riders Mike Blewitt and Imogen Smith had a super tough battle in the Mixed category in the Transalp.  Eventually they came through to claim 3rd in the Mixed category in the final stage, getting the final podium spot by a few minutes after over 35 hours of  racing.

Convict 100, Sydney, Australia

Earlier in the year fellow rider Naomi  Hansen was 2nd in the Convict 100, Imogen was 3rd.

Imogen went onto win the Mackay Marathon, Queensland.

Eastern XC regional Champs, Theford, Suffolk

Local flatlander Paul Ashby won the Veterans Regional Championship at Thetford Forest.

UK National XC Champs, Caithkin Braes, Glasgow, Scotland

Notable results were achieved by Alex Welburn (4th in the Espoirs (U23) Category), and rider Phil Morris 3rd in the Masters category.
