Josh Ibbett's 5.6g MT ZOOM jockey speed wheels still going strong after last years SDD record ride and many many winter miles.

Just a quick note on one the most notable rides last year. Josh Ibbett broke Ian Leitch’s South Down’s Double record with a new time of 17 hours 47 minutes.

That involved riding non stop for 200 miles with over 7500 metres of climbing. Josh used a few of our lightweight trick bits to help him out including our new (at the time) 5.6g ultralight jockey speed wheels.

He’s still using them, throughout the winter training, and they are still going strong. Although superlight and thin the metal seems to hold up exceptionally well to the elements.

SDD ride report http://www.joshibbett.com/ : scroll down to Sept 2011. Video here: http://vimeo.com/29690504

Josh is currently out training in Gran Canaria for the season ahead, first up, the Andalucia Bike race and then his sights are set on the UK 24 hour solo title. Good luck.

Our latest batch of uber light flat bars has a slightly tweaked graphic design (less white print), and the wider 31.8mm bars have had 20mm added onto them to match the 25.4mm at 640mm.

Lots of options to pick from here: http://mtzoom.com/handlebars/ultimate-carbon-flat-bar/

We are also working on extending our riser bar range to 2 variants, around 150g in weight and extra length. Watch this space.

Mountain bike stage races are the ultimate torture test for rider and equipment. We love them.

Ant White & Mike Blewitt race to 7th pair in the Sudety Challenge along the Polish Czech border.

Tough Sudety Terrain:

At the end of October Ant extended the British summer by flying out to Malaysia to compete in the Mountain Bike Tour of Langkawi. In the tropical heat he came 2nd in the Vets Category behind the seriously rapid pro Italian Marzio Deho.

Race report here: http://www.cannondaleracing.co.uk/news/2011/11/3/langkawi-international-mtb-challenge-2011-stage-race-ant.html

The Crocodile Trophy in Australia is right up there as one of the world’s toughest marathon stage races with over 1000km across 10 stages. It’s savage in terms of conditions and speed/quailty of field

The 3 members Subaru MarathonMTB team lasted the distance and all performed excellently. ALL finished in the top quarter of the race.

Hard core sadists:

2012 will see more stage racing for sure . Loads on the agenda including the Andalucia Bike Race and Cape Epic looming large very soon.

Jason Miles wins Relentless 24, Andrew Cockburn wins Dusk Till Dawn, Rich Rothwell wins Vets Kielder 100, Ant White wins Vets Irish Marathon Champs ... plus more XC successes.

Brutal autumnal conditions tested MT ZOOM components and riders at the biggest end of season races in the UK.

Andrew Cockburn won Dusk Till Dawn for the second time, enduring a gruelling 12 hour rain & mud fest in the darkness of Thetford forest.

Taking on his third 24 hour race of the year, Jason Miles won the Relentless 24 hour solo race in Fort William, Scotland. It rained for 24 hours. Read Jason’s report here: http://40psi.wordpress.com/

In form Rich Rothwell won the Veterans Category at the Kielder 100, with Ant White 40 seconds behind in 2nd (they finished 5th & 6th overall). Read Rich’s race report here: http://www.richyroth.com/.

Typically gritty wet cold Scottish conditions tested riders and equipment. Only a quarter of the starters actually finished, 200 opted not to even start!

2 weeks later Ant won the Veterans category in the Irish Marathon champs, finishing 4th overall.

On the XC side of things Grant Ferguson secured a 4th place in the World Junior Championships in Switzerland. Billy Whenman and Tom Bell won rounds of the Southern and Midlands XC series.

We’ve been struggling to keep up with the demand on our ultralight carbon bars. We just had another batch produced which has plenty of the oversized 31.8mm dia versions which should keep us going for a while. There are quite alot of options to choose from with weights starting at 85g (for the 25.4mm x 580mm ultralight version).

Some cracking performances from MT ZOOM riders at recent Endurance MTB races and Elite XC.

Mid May to mid June has been a hectic time on the race circuit with some impressive performances from MT ZOOM riders using our lightweight components.

Jason Miles & Dave Powell sucessfully defended their pairs title at the Guisburn Dirty Dozen. Rising at an ungoldly hour they jousted hard and won by 10 minutes over the 12 hours. www.twinklydave.com :
